Hello parents of Mrs. Teachers second graders! Our new project will be looking at "what makes a good citizen?" Please feel free to begin talking to your child about what values you hold in being a good citizen, this will help bring multiple views to our classroom.
This lesson will be developed over several weeks with various assignments and concluding with a charity project of the students choice.
We are hoping to distinguish between the differences of rights and responsibility, helping others, the importance of community service, etc.
We want the child to understand that being a good citizen is not just about following the rules in the classroom, or doing what you are told at home, but that it is about being a part to the "bigger picture"- that they are a part of this community.
